I'll lay even money you have a cam lobe going flat. Recheck them if you decide to pull the top end again. 10W40 oil is okay for a short distance bike, but if you ride it alot, 20W50 is better. You may also want to check the alignment of the rockers to the valve stems. A small bit out of alignment can make an awful lot of racket.
